Shri Piyush Goyal,
Honourable Minister of Commerce & Industry presided the launch of the
Centre of Excellence in the domain of Logistics and Supply Chain Management in
NITIE Mumbai recently.
The event was also
graced by Chairman, NITIE Board of Governor, Mr Shashi Kiran Shetty, Founder
and Chairman, Allcargo Logistics & Chairman, ECU Worldwide and GATI Ltd.

Tiwari, Director NITIE welcomed the guests and delivered the inaugural address.
Shri Shashi Kiran Shetty also spoke about the need for the CoE and the role it
would play in elevating NITIE’s contribution towards solving Global Supply
Chain challenges.

Given the
significance of Logistics and Supply Chain Management in growth and development
of the nation by improving competitiveness, maximising capabilities through
improved logistics infrastructure and by obtaining the advantages of
globalization, India will be able to address supply chain issues more efficiently.
Applied and actionable research and case studies will be the regular
features of the centre
The Centre is thus
envisaged to steer the education, training, and research in the domain of
Supply Chain by means of launching of cutting-edge programs, promote
Digitisation, Analytics, and IOT Applications, decision support Systems through
AI/ML applications, Digital twin and Control towers to strengthen the
monitoring and analysis of complex logistics Operations. Applied and actionable
research and case studies will be the regular features of the centre and it
will help in policy planning and capability building to strengthen the Multi
Modal logistics services, warehousing, Ports and shipping, Transportation and
packaging and entities of Value Chain to help in smoothing our complete supply
chain and export potential. |
