Guard Region HQ (East) is conducting the first ever training for Mozambique
Navy officers and personnel in India at Chennai on the highly versatile indigenously
built Interceptor Boat. This training is a part of the
International co-operation between the two countries where in
Govt. of India had agreed to donate two Interceptor Boats to the Mozambique
Navy. The two nations are working closely on issues of security,
especially maritime safety in the Indian Ocean. India and Mozambique have
stepped up mutual co-operation and have now taken it to the next level of
military training in addition to economic and political relation.
training program is being conducted in two groups for 14 personnel each.
The first group of 07 officers and 07 Sailors have arrived in Chennai and
training commenced from November 05 – 16. The second group would be joining in
the first week of December..
training scheduled for these personnel is specially formulated to give
hands-on-experience in handling the Interceptor Boats by the Coast Guard
officers and Subordinate Officers who have considerable experience in these
class of vessels. The aim of training curriculum enables the
Mozambique Navy personnel to get acquainted with the chances of operating these
highly versatile boats which are filled with state of the art equipment and
