A senior TN Govt Official made the new chairman of VOC Port Tuticorin

The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Shipping for the appointment of Mr T. K. Ramachandran, IAS (TN:1991) to the post of Chairman (JS Level), V. O. Chidambaranar Port Trust, Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu according to an official release.

 According to a press note issued by the Ministry of Shipping, Mr Ramachandran’s appointment will be for five years from the date of assumption of charge of the post.

 Mr Ramachandran has served the government of Tamil Nadu in various capacities, including Collector and DM in Ramanathapuram and Villupuram, Deputy Commissioner of Corporation of Chennai, Project Director of TN Road Sector Project, and Project Director of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA).

His interests include education, e-learning, e-governance and IT policy, urban development, infrastructure and development economics. Mr Ramachandran has received several awards and citations from the government of India and state governments.

 He holds a B.Tech (Hons) from IIT, Kharagpur, an M. Tech in Computer Science from IIT, Delhi and a Masters in Public Policy from Princeton University as ‘World Bank - Robert McNamara’ Fellow. He is currently in a top position in the government of Tamil Nadu.
