The Swachchta Hi Seva Campaign is receiving tremendous
support from all the Port Officers, staff and employees in implementing the day
to day activities scheduled for the 15 day campaign and achieving the objective
of a clean and green environment. The campaign is proceeding well as per the
schedule drawn by the Nodal Officer (SHS). Reaching out to the student
community and making them a part of the ambitious campaign, the
Port conducted a Mormugao Taluka level Elocution Competition for the
school students from the taluka at the HRD Centre on the topics; i)
My contribution to save the earth ii) Beat Plastic Pollution and
iii) Clean Goa Green Goa. The response from the schools was encouraging and 13
students from five schools in the taluka viz., Deepvihar
High School, Govt. High School, Yuvak Sangh High School, Murgao High School and
Sushenashram High School participated in the competition.
The Competition was judged by Capt. Manoj Joshi, Dy.
Conservator, Shri S.K.S. Hegde CME (i/c) and Dr. Hema Mayekar, Medical Officer.
The competition was attended by the Officers, staff and employees and listened
to the inspiring speeches of the youngsters who can make a noticeable
difference to bring about a change in future. The students had come well
prepared on the respective topics and expressed their minds freely touching on
some important aspects on achieving the objectives of having a clean
environment. The programme was compered by Smt. Vidhya Sawant,
while Shri Edward Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
Cleanliness drive in offices and work places
Hectic activity was witnessed on 25th September
2018, amongst the port fraternity when all the officers, staff and employees as
part of the Swachchta Hi Seva Campaign under the guidance of their respective
Heads of Department came together enthusiastically to carry out cleanliness
drives in several locations identified by them which included their office
premises, in the port and dock areas, in the neighbourhood of Headland Sada,
open spaces, Guest house premises, and other places.
The employees worked as a team showing
tremendous spirit of teamwork completing their respective assignments of
carrying out the cleanliness and giving the place a new look. The ‘Swachchta Hi
Seva ‘campaign which is in progress at MPT from 15th September
is drawing more and more enthusiastic volunteers to achieve the mission and
make a difference to society. The mission to bring about awareness
in the society on the importance of cleanliness in our day to lives and as well
as at the work place will continue as per the schedule.
