Major ports to undertake development of National waterways projects

The Shipping Ministry had issued instructions to five state owned major ports of Paradip, Mormugoa, JNPT, New Mangalore and Deendayal (Kandla) on April 18  to take up development of the National Waterways which are located in their vicinity, Minister of State for Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan informed the Lok sabha on August Second.

In a written answer to the house the Minister said the directions have been issued to the Ports under section 111 of the Major Ports Act of 1963 to make use of the complementarity between development of Inland water transportation and Major Ports
