Export-Import Bank of India [Exim Bank] has, on behalf of the Government
of India, extended two Lines of Credit [LOCs] of USD 100 millioneach [for (i)
Development of two SEZs & expansion of the Kigali SEZ and (ii)Agriculture
Projects in Rwanda] to the Government ofthe Republic of Rwanda. The LOC
Agreements to this effect were signed in Rwandaon Monday, July 23, 2018, by
Mr.Nadeem Panjetan, ChiefGeneral Manager, on behalf of Exim Bank and H. E.Dr.
UzzielNdagijimana, Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, on behalf of the
Government of the Republic of Rwanda during the visit of the Prime Minister of
India to Rwanda.
With the signing of the above LOC Agreements, Exim Bank, till date, has
extended7 (Seven)Lines of Credit to the Government of the Republic of Rwanda,
on behalf of the Government of India, taking the total value of LOCs extended
to USD 547.65 million. The LOCs extended to the Government of the Republic of
Rwandacovers projects in sectors including Power, Agriculture, Skill
Development, Roads and SEZs in Rwanda.
With the signing of these LOC Agreements, Exim Bank has now in place 235
Lines of Credit, covering 62 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the
CIS, with credit commitments of around USD 23.05 billion, available for
financing exports from India. Besides promoting India’s exports, Exim Bank's
LOCs enable demonstration of Indian expertise and project execution
capabilities in emerging markets.
