V.O. C. Port donates an ambulance to Agriculture College and Research Institute, Killikulam

 On 17.07.2018, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust, Tuticorin donated an Ambulance to Agriculture College and Research Institute, Killikulam says a press release.

The ambulance was flagged off by Shri Rinkesh Roy, IRTS, Chairman V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust, in presence of N. Vaiyapuri, Deputy Chairman, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust,
Dr. A. Ramalingam, Dean, Agriculture College and Research Institute, Killikulam,
Shri V. Vishnu, IAS, Officer on Special Duty, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust and Officers & Staff of V.O. Chidambaranar Port.

V.O. Chidambaranar Port, realizing the indispensable role of ambulance service in emergency patient transfer, ease of access to health services by the staff and students of Agriculture College and Research Institute, Killikulam, a residential institute,  located on Tirunelveli – Thoothukudi NH138 highway has donated an ambulance at a cost of Rs. 8.59 lakhs.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Rinkesh Roy, IRTS, Chairman,
V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust said ‘The Port is committed to serve the society and is making efforts to enhance the quality of life of the people from underprivileged sections of the society, especially the community around the Port area’.

In a bid to be socially responsible, V.O. Chidambaranar Port has undertaken a number welfare initiatives under CSR schemes with focus on Education, Health Care, Entrepreneurship (self-help & livelihood generation) schemes, Infrastructure support in and around Tuticorin, Environment protection & ecological conservation and Women’s Empowerment by allotting 2% of net profit every financial year. For the financial year 2018-19, the Port has allocated Rs. 247.72 lakhs for implementation of CSR schemes.

As an autonomous body under Ministry of Shipping, V.O. Chidambaranar Port has a long and cherished tradition of commendable initiatives, institutionalized programmes and practices of Corporate Social Responsibility which have played a laudable role in the development of areas in and around Thoothukudi district. The CSR activities of the port are in line with the guidelines on Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability issued by the Department of Public Enterprises and Ministry of Corporate Affairs of the Government of India.
