V.O. C Port Trust dedicates PMBJP Medical Store to public

 On 25.06.2018, Shri Rinkesh Roy, IRTS, Chairman,
V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust inaugurated the Pradhan  Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP)  Medical Store in the presence of
Shri S. Natarajan, Deputy Chairman, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust at Beach Road (opposite to Sub Collector’s Office), says a release.

 Shri Rinkesh Roy, IRTS, Chairman, V.O. Chidambaranar Port Trust stated that “the generic medicines available under this scheme meeting the highest quality benchmarks are made available by the Government at costs much less than that of branded counterpartsand would eventually reduce and redefine the unit cost of treatment per person”. 

According to the vision of Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, Government’s priority under the PMBJP scheme is to provide quality medicines at affordable rates to the poor and marginalized sections of society. 

To facilitate the above, as directed by the Ministry of Shipping, a building with 36.30 sq.mt area at Beach Road near minor Port is allotted to NGO M/s. Empower India Civil Society Organisation, Tuticorin for operating the Pradhan  Mantri  Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP)  Medical Store. The medical store would serve the public from Monday to Saturday from 0930 Hrs to 1930 Hrs. 

Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr. Joseph Sundar, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Shri U. Rajendran, Traffic Manager, Capt Bhabatosh Chand, Deputy Conservator, Smt. S. Shanthi, Financial Advisor and Chief Accounts Officer & other senior officers of the Port and Shri A. Shankar, Managing Director, M/s. Empower India Civil Society Organisation.
