Freight forwarders and shippers operating from Cochin port can hire a
tractor trailer to evacuate or load a container by a click of a button with a
start up Tranzhub all set to implement the hiring system like Olah uber taxi
hailer service.
The company has come up with an online booking
platform linking trailer operators, freight forwarders and customs brokers,
enabling them to fix trailer hire charges and terms directly.
The new initiative, scheduled to be launched by
the end of this month at the Kochi Port, assumes significance at a time when
the government is reportedly considering online booking options for trucks to
speed up cargo movement in major ports.
This is for the first time in the Indian
logistics sector that such an online trailer booking facility is being
launched. The container transportation is largely unorganised and the company
intends to organise it through technological intervention.
Transzhub has developed an online booking
platform – Trailerji.com- where users can register, post and fulfill their
requirements using the company's website or the mobile app.
Initially, the online booking facility will be
introduced at the Kochi Port, and soon be extended to other major ports, said a
spokesman of the company There will be a one-time service charge and user-fee
for each booking to fund the program.
