Along with the celebration of the 127th
birth anniversary of Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi
launched the first phase of Ayushman Bharat health programme from Bijapur in
Chhattisgarh, inaugurating the first health centre under the Scheme at the
naxal affected district Bastar region.

The Prime Minister said that the Ayushman
Bharat scheme will go a long way in ending social imbalance, and ensuring
social justice in the country. He said that in the first phase of this scheme,
an effort would be made to bring about a sea change in primary healthcare. He
said sub centres and primary health centres at 1.5 lakh places in the country
would now be developed as Health and Wellness Centres. He said the aim is to
complete this task by 2022. He said these Health and Wellness Centres would
function like a family doctor for the poor.
He said the next target of Ayushman
Bharat would be to provide financial assistance of upto Rs. 5 lakh to the poor,
for medical treatment.
There were many inaugurations bringing
benefits to the people by the Prime Minister Modi. As the first prime minister
visiting the tribal district of Bijapur, he inaugurated a new rail line
flagging off a passenger train between Gudum and Bhanupratapur, bringing north
Bastar region on railways' map.
The first phase of the Bastar Internet
Scheme was also inaugurated; under the scheme which has a massive network of
40,000 km long fibre optics spread across seven districts of the tribal region.

Taking the opportunity, Prime Minister Modi
asserted that the Constitution protects the rights of the down-trodden and he

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid

built to honour their sacrifices.

Bijapur to launch the Ayushman Bharat scheme because it has transformed over
the last 3 months emerging as a shining example for the other 115 aspirational
districts across the country.
