JNPT celebrates Republic Day with gaiety and joy

 JNPT, the largest container port celebrated the 69th  Republic Day here with great enthusiasm and participation by employees, their families, school children and with local citizens attending in large number, says a press release.

Shri Neeraj Bansal, Chairman-in-Charge was the Chief Guest of the function and hoisted the national flag in the presence of JNPT employees and local population. Tri-colour balloons were released in the sky to mark the celebrations and the spirit of freedom. After the inspection of Parade by Chairman-in-charge, a March Past was held by the contingents.

 Shri Bansal extended Republic Day greetings to all JNPT Employees, CISF, all Port users, students and teachers and everyone connected with the port.

 Addressing the gathering, Shri Neeraj Bansal, Chairman-in-Charge said, “On this day, we celebrate the spirit of freedom and democracy of this great country. This is the time to pay our homages to all freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to free India from foreign rule and also to father of Indian constitution Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar for capturing the true spirit of make India a Sovereign, Secular, Socialist, Democratic and Republic Nation. During last 27 years, JNPT has witnessed the growth by support from JNPT employees and all other stakeholders.” 

Further he mentioned that during 16-17 JNPT handled highest ever container cargo with the achievement of highest profit. He touched upon the various capacity addition projects, connectivity projects, infrastructure projects implemented by JNPT to change the face of container port in India. 

 The much-awaited phase-1 expansion of 4th terminal has been completed in time and trial operations have commenced from this month which will add capacity of 2.4 million TEUs p.a., Shri Bansal said.

 He also highlighted JNPT’s achievements in Sports and Cultural activities  like JNPT was declared winner of All India Major Port cultural meet and also won the  best director and best actor awards, JNPT won 85 medals in athletic meets and also won the Chess competition of All Major Ports. 

 He reiterated that JNPT is committed to provide best health services to the port employees. He urged everyone to adopt cleanliness as part of life to make JNPT as green and cleanest port .He highlighted that to support local people JNPT has successfully awarded land to PAP’s as per their long pending demand last year. 

 The grand programme ended with beautiful cultural activities presented by the CISF and children of IES JNPT Vidyalaya as well as St.Mary’s School, JNPT.
