A brilliant page in the history of India
now is being written when Prime Minister Narendra Modi gets all the 10 ASEAN
leaders as the Chief Guests at the Republic Day parade tomorrow.
Ahead of the India-ASEAN commemorative
summit, Prime Minister Modi has held bilateral meetings with Sultan of Brunei,
His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassan-al Bolkiah, with his Thailand counterpart Prayut
Chan-o-cha and Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong, and the leaders of
three ASEAN nations-Myanmar, Vietnam and Philippints.
Later, in the evening, Prime Minister
will meet President of Indonesia Joko Widodo.
Modi will have
a separate meeting with Cambodian PM Hun Sen who will stay back for a state
visit on January 27.
Maritime cooperation, security, freedom
of navigation and respect for international law in the region and fight against
terrorism, piracy and other transnational crimes will be the focus in the
Summit, according to officials.
