is confident of giving a push to the momentum to the trade with the landlocked
country by consolidating the second flank at Visakhapatnam port, besides the
traditional Kolkata Birgunj(Nepal) rail route. In this connection Maersk Line,
the global container division of the group concluded a Trade meeting at
company plans to move five to six block trains per month from Visakhapatnam
port to Birgunj in Nepal soon. The shipping line moved the first ever container
shipment in this route to Nepal via the exclusive block train service called
the Kathmandu Express in June last year. The service offers guaranteed fixed
transit time from the load port (Visakhapatnam) to Birgunj.
Maersk Line is the first shipping line to introduce
this innovative product. Since its launch, momentum has built up quickly based
on customer demand, and the company expects 5-6 block trains moving monthly
from Visakhapatnam to Birgunj.
