Hindi day Celebration in V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust

V.O.Chidambaranar Port Trust, an autonomous Body under Ministry of Shipping, Government of India, celebrated Hindi Day in a grand and successful manner on 20.12.2017, says a release from VOC Port Trust.

  Hindi Day marks the credit of Official Language usage in the Central Government offices, Public Sector Enterprises and other Government agencies.

V.O. Chidambaranar Port is adhering to the directives of the Department of Official Language , Ministry of Home Affairs & Ministry of Shipping in implementation of the Official Language. In order propagate the official language, the Official Language section of the Port organises various Training Programmes. Various competitions were also conducted for the Ports Officials, Officials of other Government Establishments and School children, for the development and propagation of Hindi in all forms.

 Smt S. Shanthi, Secretary (Stat.) welcomed the gathering. Smt S.S.Meena, Hindi Translaor of the Port presented the Annual Report for the year 2017-18, which highlighted the various initiatives taken for implementation of Official Language in the Port and the compliances of various instructions given by Ministry of Shipping and Ministry of Home Affairs.

Shri S. Natarajan, Deputy Chairman presided over the function and delivered the key note address. In his address, he appreciated the initiates taken by the Hindi Section to improve the usage of official language among officials of Port. He also suggested everyone to learn a Hindi which is not only the official language but also a link language of our country.

The Chief Guest DIG Venkatesh, Commanding Officer, Indian Coast Guard Station, Tuticorin appreciated efforts taken to impart Hindi classes to Port officials and Port Schools. He also emphasized the need for learning Hindi which is the spine of all official correspondences of Central Government Offices. He also distributed the prizes to winners of various competitions like Noting and Drafting, Elocution etc, conducted for the Port and FCI Officers and employees.
