IMF (International Maritime Federation)
has opened its new office at CBD Belapur, Navi Mumbai. Distinguished
personalities from the Maritime Industry attended the opening ceremony of the
office. Mr. Pradeep Rawat, Chairman, National Shipping Board was inaugurated
the new office, says a release on 11th Dec. Mr. Atul
Chandrakant Kulkarni, Advisor, Ministry of Shipping, and Capt L K Panda, Ex
Nautical Advisor, Govt. Of India, Capt Sanjay Prashar, MD, VR Maritime graced
the occasion with their presence. Several stalwarts attended the ceremony.
International Maritime Federation was incorporated on 08th January 2015. Indian
entrepreneurs from Crew Management Companies, Maritime Training Institutions
and Marine Examinars joined hands to build up credible platform for exponential
growth of Indian Seafarers.
IMF participates in the policy making
for the seafarers with government bodies. IMF believes entrepreneurs ashore can
share expertise on one platform to further the cause of Indian seafarers. As on
Nov 2017, IMF has 54 members employing more than 5000 seafarers. Membership of
many Shipping Entrepreneurs is being considered by Board of Directors. “The
road map has been laid for employment of 100,000 seafarers through our member
lines by 2020. We wish to see Indian seafarers sharing 10% of global slots in
merchant navy by 2020”.
