After the bullet train it is the turn of sea planes to land in Gujarat

After being denied permission for a poll campaign road show in Ahmedabad city, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will sail into Mehsana district via seaplane from the Sabarmati river in the city to visit the Ambaji temple.

BJP leaders said this would be the first time a seaplane was operating on the Sabarmati.

Carrying Modi and other party functionaries, the seaplane is expected in on a pond of the Dharoi dam in Mehsana. The PM is expected to visit the Ambaji temple there, and after, his return journey is also expected to be via seaplane.

BJP had planned my road show in Ahmedabad on December 13. However, the administration has not given permission and I had time so I decided to go to Ambaji temple in the sea-plane, Modi tweeted. We cannot have airports everywhere, so our government has planned to have these sea-planes," he added.

Ahmedabad police have denied permission for the road shows by both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi. They cited potential traffic snarls and also wanted to avoid the possibility of disturbances in some communally sensitive areas.

The first phase of Assembly elections in Gujarat were conducted last week.  The second and final phase is scheduled for December 14 and hence the campaigns by the top leaders of political parties have reached a peak.
