The Strait of Hormuz in Southern Iran where nearly eighty per cent of the
world's crude supplies emanate is the most secure shipping region in the world,
leader of the Iranian delegation told the International Maritime Organisation,

Iran's minister for road and urban development Mohammad Rastad made the
remarks in a meeting with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in
London on November 30.
Referring to the role of Iran in maintenance of security in the Persian
Gulf and Oman Sea, the Minister said that the presence of the Iranian Naval
forces in the region has contributed to the establishment of security for
navigation in regional waters.
Rastad also voiced Iran's readiness to cooperate with other littoral states
under the supervision of IMO to establish security in the Caspian Sea.
Iranian minister's statement at a global forum assumes significance since
its political rival Saudi Arabia is engaged in a major confrontation in Yemen
making the movement of ships a problem.
The 30th biennial meeting of the IMO opened in the British capital on
