Maersk opens new capability centre in Bangalore


Maersk Global Service Centres India inaugurated its new Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bangalore last week. Located at Bhartiya City on Thanisandra Main Road, the facility is expected to employ over 200 professionals over the next 12 months, experts who will bring to bear engineering, big data and data sciences, artificial intelligence, and creative marketing capabilities to deliver customer insights and benefits.

India is home to Maersk’s largest global service centre operations employing over 8,000 professionals handling service delivery and business relationships. This is a natural expansion, and we look forward to working with the best talent in digital, engineering and marketing," said Mr Soren Skou, CEO, A. P. Moller-Maersk, during the inaugural ceremony.

Strategically located in India’s Silicon Valley, the Centre will be a key enabler in Maersk’s digitalisation roadmap by tapping into new technologies and solutions to significantly improve the customer experience. "The Bangalore centre will take us further in our journey to digital innovation, improved customer experience and competitive solutions for the markets we serve," explained Mr Jakob Stausholm, Chief Finance, Strategy & Transformation Officer, Transport & Logistics Division.

Mr Navneet Kapoor, Head of the Global Service Centres, elaborates: "Bangalore has played a pioneering role towards incubating and enabling some of the best global in-house centres, start-ups and product companies. We are excited to leverage this unique ecosystem to invest in developing a world class team and partner with the broader industry forums."

The Maersk Global Service Centres (GSC) are the official shared service centres for A.P. Moller-Maersk (APMM). The GSC partners with APMM companies to identify off-shoring opportunities and to provide efficient, effective and continuously improving process solutions. The GSC employs more than 12,000 employees across its sites: Manila, Philippines; Chengdu, China; and Chennai, Mumbai, and Pune in India, said a release.
