Rationalization of tariff for cruise vessels takes effect at Major Ports

Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of lndia has taken  initiatives for promotion of cruise shipping in lndia and also committees were constituted under the aegis of lndian Ports Association, wherein it has recommended to formulate uniform rates for cruise vessels calling at all Major Ports. As per the recommendation of the Committee, it has been decided by the Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of lndia,   communication   dated 3'd November 2017 that following rates shall be charged in Major Ports for cruise vessels with immediate effect which is as follows: 1) The composite port charges for a cruise call is fixed at $ 0.35 per GRT for first 12 hours stay across all Major Ports with a view to have one rate. Ports will not charge any other rate like berth hire, Port dues, pilotage, passenger fee etc. 2) For the period of stay exceeding 12 hours, individual ports may decide on discount keeping in view the availability and utility of berths. 3) The above rationalized tariffs are made effective on a trial basis for a period of three years. ln view of the (2) above, for cruise vessels staying exceeding 12 hours, it is resolved to charge an additional charge at $ 0.06 per GRT per hour or part thereof, says a trade notice issued by New Mangalore Port Trust on 8th Nov.
