Rajya Sabha committee visits Goa

The study visit of the Committee on Paper Laid on the Table (COPLOT), Rajya Sabha, headed by Dr. C. P. Thakur, along with 6 MPs and Committee officials of Rajya Sabha Secretariat  visited Goa on 9th and 10th  September,2017 to  hold  discussion with Mormugao Port Trust and other participating organizations on the issue of "Laying of Annual Reports and Audited Accounts". 

 Mormugao Port was the Nodal Agency. The other participating Organizations were i) Goa Shipyard Ltd.(ii) Institute of Hotel Management Catering and Applied Nutrition,Goa (iii) National Institute of Technology, Goa (iv)   National centre for Antarctic & Ocean Research (NCAOR), Goa  (v) Goa Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Society vi) Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) vii) Goa Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Ltd. ix) BharatSanchar Nigam Ltd., (BSNL) x) EXIM Bank xi) NABARD and xii) Konkan Railways.  

 The Committee Chairman along with other two MPs and Committee officials visited the Port on 09.09.2017 and they were shown the Port activities. Shri I. Jeyakumar, IRTS Chairman, MPT and other Heads of Departments were present during the visit. The Chairman, Shri I. Jeyakumar, also briefed the respected Chairman of the visiting Rajya Sabha Committee and other members about the developmental activities undertaken by the Port.  

 The two days meeting completed successfully and Chairman of the Committee placed on record his appreciation to MPT, Goa for the coordination of the committee meeting successfully.




MPT has always taken up the challenges to excel not only in achieving its developmental and progressive goals but also in establishing high standards in the field of implementation of official language. As our nation is celebrating 14th September as Hindi Day commemorating the declaration of Hindi as Official language, MPT has also chalked out various programmes, competitions and activities in propagation of official language as a part of "Hindi Pakhwada" to be observed from 14th September to 28thSeptember, 2017. To mark  the  auspicious occasion of “Hindi Diwas” a message   issued by the Hon’ble Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh, was read by Smt. Nilam Kenkre, Hindi Officer in the august presence of Deputy Chairman   Shri G.P.  Rai, Secretary Shri J.B.  Dhawale and other senior officers and staff in the board room of MPT.  It is stated that language serves as an important role in all round development of a country. It brings about cultural and social bonding and strengthens the unity of the country.

Highlighting the significance of Hindi Day Celebration, Secretary, Shri. J. B. Dhawale, said that Hindi Diwas is observed on September 14 after the constitutional Committee decided to make Hindi as Official language of the Union in 1949. He said, using Hindi language is one’s constitutional obligation and one’s duty to learn and spread Hindi language in the country.

The Deputy Chairman, Shri G.P. Rai, in his brief speech said ‘ It is  our national duty to implement more of Hindi in our day to day working. Hindi is our national language as well as Official language and we should always feel proud to use Hindi in our office work as much as possible. We as the citizens of India should necessarily lay our focus on getting our Mother tongue – Hindi, its importance to get recognized among the other languages and other countries of the world. If we all support and give due respect to Hindi language, then at the end we are supporting and giving due respect to our nation’.

The message of the Hon’ble Home Minister was also read out in all the other departments of the Port in the presence of respective HOD's and officers employees. The Hindi Officer proposed a vote of thanks and gave a detailed programme about the various activities and competitions to be organized during the Hindi fortnight.
