The Free Trade Warehousing Zone (FTWZ), unit of Kerry Indev Logistics Pvt.
Ltd (formerly known as Indev Logistics Pvt. Ltd) has been bestowed with the
Export Excellence Award for 2014-15 and 2015-16 by the Office of the
Development Commissioner, MEPZ - Special Economic Zone, Ministry of Commerce
and Industry. Kerry Indev Logistics won the award for "Highest Exports for
the period 2015-16 under SEZ Unit Miscellaneous category".
Such awards will be the driving force behind initiatives like the Prime
Minister, Mr Narendra Modi’s "Make in India", the company said in a
Indev Logistics has been contributing towards building the country’s
infrastructure since its inception, with its services offering integrated
logistics solutions under one roof. It has strong presence pan-India in various
verticals of SCM such as Customs broking, CFS, AFS, ICDs, Bonded Warehouse, 3PL
Warehouse, Transportation, NVOCC, Cold Chain Warehouse, International Freight
Forwarding as well as FTWZ.
FTWZ, a policy of the government of India, is a special category of Special
Economic Zone (SEZ). It is governed by the SEZ Act, 2005 and SEZ Rules, 2006
with a clear focus on trading and warehousing. As per the SEZ rule 18 (5) and
instruction 60, a FTWZ unit shall be allowed to hold goods on behalf of Indian
buyer/seller, foreign buyer/seller for despatch as per the owner’s instruction.
Indev Logistics commenced its FTWZ operations in Chennai with warehousing
space of 26,394 sq. feet and strength of 15 employees in July 2013, and within
a short span of five months, the unit increased its warehousing space to 43,000
sq. feet. There has been continuous further transformation and improvement,
with the warehousing space being expanded to 2,00,000 sq. feet along with
state-of-art equipment and IT systems. The FTWZ unit became ISO 9001:2015
certified in 2016, with employee strength of more than 150.
The 32-year-old Indev Logistics Pvt. Ltd merged with Kerry Logistics Pvt.
Ltd, the Hong Kong-based logistics giant, and rebranded itself as Kerry Indev
Logistics Pvt. Ltd in April 2016 to expand its trademark and network globally.
Kerry Indev sourced 15 acres of land on long lease for a period of 30
years, with scope for further extension, at Adani Port and Special Economic
Zone, Mundra, Gujarat to develop the first phase of a new FTWZ unit with 70,000
sq. feet area. There are plans to expand the facility and have FTWZ unit and
CFS in the same premises.
