The state-run Odisha Power Transmission
Corporation Limited (OPTCL) has added yet another feather in its cap by
embarking on highest recruitment among the State Public Sector Undertakings.
Because of its excellent track record,
Odisha government has conferred responsibility of nodal agency to OPTCL to
implement Rs 10,000 crore worth projects in the state.
In an induction programme here yesterday,
newly recruited 150 JMOTs were offered letters of appointment by chief minister
Since 2010, OPTCL has recruited 1581
personnel from various disciplines .Such recruitment has created employment
opportunity for 343 female, 248 Scheduled Caste and 330 scheduled
tribe youth of Odisha.
The unique and modern talent acquisition
process CBT (computer Based Test ) initiated by Human Resource department of
OPTCL was highly appreciated by the dignitaries. In order to get the best
candidates for the sector like Power, OPTCL this time introduced the competency
based skill test. The shortlisted candidates put forth their knowledge and
physical competency in the relevant trade test.
"Time and again OPTCL has proven its
track record of performance excellence in difficult situations like restoration
of power after the devastation due to Phailin and timely completion of
Nabakalebara Projects for strengthening the transmission and distribution
system in Puri area. It has won the confidence of the Government and
proved to be the life line of Odisha. Due to this Government has entrusted many
state funded projects worth more than 10,000 crore to OPTCL as nodal
implementing agency ", said Patnaik in his address to the gathering.
He also urged the new employees to give
their best output for providing the state a robust service delivery.
OPTCL has adopted transparent recruitment
process of CBT (Computer Based Test) and competency based skill test. The
corporation is the first among the state PSUs to implement this CBT in
recruitment examimation in Odisha, said Hemant Sharma,
Commissioner-cum-Secretary and also the CMD of OPTCL & GRIDCO.
