Visakhapatnam's port's world class Visakha Container Terminal (VCT), which
has witnessed transportation of variety of cargoes, is now planning to expand
its horizon further, targeting new cargoes.
The Commissioner of Customs Dr D.K. Srinivas visited Visakha Container Terminal to
understand the cargo growth potential wherein new cargoes like white goods
(electrical and electronics), FMCG products, fruit imports, etc., were
discussed, and how VCT could be the gateway on the East coast of India catering
to the vast hinterland.
The Customs Commissioner assured that Visakhapatnam Customs is ready to
give full support to transform the idea into reality for the benefit of the
Vizag has always been known for its hinterland rich in metal and minerals.
Imports of finished goods landing in the port city would be the beginning of a
new chapter and would take it closer to becoming the logistics hub of the newly
created state of Andhra Pradesh.
