The Port of
Antwerp along with senior Belgian Government authorities organized two
engagements, a seminar and an interactive discussion in Hyderabad on the 10thand
11th of August respectively to showcase port’s state-of-the-art
facilities to Export Import(EXIM) community in India. The seminar organized on
the 10th of August at Hyderabad’s Park Hyatt hotel
presented the Port as a preferred gateway for Indian exporters and forwarders
to Europe. Mr. Luc Arnouts - International Networking Director of Antwerp Port
Authority outlined the benefits of the Port as a leading break bulk port and a
preferred gateway for distribution with in Europe.
Desfossez - Customs Attaché of Belgium shared insights about Customs procedures
at Antwerp Port. The Antwerp delegation was led by H.E. Jan Luykx - Belgium
Ambassador to India. The delegation from Antwerp received an overwhelming
response with over seventy participating organizations engaged in maritime
trade across varied industries of infrastructure projects, steel, public
transport and pharmaceuticals.
On the 11th of
August, a first of its kind interactive discussion was organized for the Indian
pharmaceutical industry in collaboration with Pharmexcil. The session was well
attended by leading pharmaceutical companies such as Aurobindo Pharma, Natco
Pharma, Suven Life Sciences and Granules India, amongst others.
ranging from the growing importance of ocean freight in transportation of
pharmaceutical goods, supply chain challenges in India and expectations from
the Port of Antwerp as a key player in the supply chain of Indian
pharmaceutical companies were discussed. Antwerp’s interest to evolve as a high
quality logistics player through service providers drew specific attention.
participants were interested to learn more about the various types of value
added logistics services that could be availed at the Port after Mr. Arnouts
gave an example of using sophisticated machinery to put tablets in blisters to
streamline packaging. A key take away was to explore outsourcing of noncore
logistics activities to the expert players in Antwerp.
