will soon be playing host to the United States’ First Daughter and White House
special adviser, Ivanka Trump, who will be leading a delegation to the Global
Entrepreneurship Summit this November.
announcement first emerged last Thursday on social media when Indian Prime
Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump tweeted out the news.
Ivanka was present at Modi’s visit to the earlier this year, and was extended
an invitation to visit the country.
In a series of tweets from his account the Prime
Minister, Shri Narendra Modi said:
"India and US will co-host the Global
Entrepreneurship Summit at Hyderabad from 28-30 November 2017.
The Summit is a unique opportunity for bringing
together entrepreneurs and start ups with global leaders.
Look forward to Ms. Ivanka Trump’s presence at
Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017-Hyderabad as the leader of the US
In a Joint Statement by Telangana IT and
Industries Minister, K. T. Rama Rao and U.S. Consul General Katherine Hadda,
they said that they “ are delighted that
Hyderabad will be the site of the 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES).
As NITI Aayog CEO Kant and Chargé d’Affaires MaryKay Carlson noted in
their announcement, the GES is the
preeminent annual gathering of emerging entrepreneurs, investors, and business
leaders from around the world, and Hyderabad is the ideal location for such a
gathering. In addition to being a global IT center and India’s startup capital,
Hyderabad – and the State of Telangana – has a long and proud history of
fostering U.S.-India commercial and entrepreneurship partnerships.
This year’s theme, “Women
First, Prosperity for All,” underscores the critical role women play in
accelerating global growth and opportunity.
