Vedanta Reaches Out To Flood Victims

With flash flood wreaking havoc in Rayagada and Kalahandi districts, corporate houses have come forward to lend helping hand in providing succour to the deluge victims.

Vedanta flanked by local organizations and volunteers has undertaken relief and rescue operation coming to the aid of marooned people in cut off areas.          

As press release issued by the Vedanta claimed that the company has reached out to more than 700 families in the flood-hit areas of Kalyansinghpur block in Rayagada and Thuamul Rampur block in Kalahandi district.The company has provided relief support in Kataguda, Kuradhi, Kumbharguda and Jilunda villages of Kalyansinghpur block in Rayagada and Pahadapadar in Lanjigarh block of Kalahandi. Medical assistance through ambulance support, paramedical staff and medicines have reached out to the affected people along with resident company doctors. Rice, pulses, potatoes, water packets, biscuits, and chuda were distributed to the people. Today, a team of employee volunteers handed over additional relief items to Kalahandi district administration.

 “Vedanta is taking all possible steps to reach out to the people in need on ground. We are working closely with the district administration and extending full support as required.”, said Ajay Kumar Dixit, CEO, Vedanta Alumina & Power.

Bimalananda Senapati, COO – Vedanta Lanjigarh said, “We have already stationed a Vedanta Ambulance Service with a dedicated pharmacist at Rayagada for emergency duty. The services are still ongoing on a timely basis.”
