Shipping Secretary Rajive Kumar has been given additional charge as
Secretary Ministry of Road transport and Highways as a temporary arrangement as
per the decision taken at the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet.
The decision has been taken until further orders or till appointment of a
regular incumbent whichever is earlier the order of the Committee said. The
order indicates that continuance of Mr Rajive Kumar in the transport ministry
is a temporary arrangement till a regular officer is found.
Mr Kumar 1981 batch UP cadre officer has been holding the post of Shipping
Secretary for the last three years, He will now hold additional charge of
transport and highways ministry as well and continued to report to Shipping and
Transport minister Nitin Gadkari. Both the Ministries operate from Transport
The present incumbent in the Transport and Highways Ministry Sanjay Mitra
will take over as Secretary in the Defense Ministry on completion of tenure of
the present incumbent G Mohan Kumar on May 24. Mr Mitra has earlier had a seven
