Karnataka government has cleared the Metro rail project up to Tamil
Nadu border from Bengaluru to Bommasandra leaving the neighboring state to take
it forward to another eight kilometers to reach the Industrial town of Hosur.
Karnataka government’s decision in this regard was revealed to
newspersons by a congress member of Lok sabha from Krishnagiri Dr A
Chellakumar. He said phase two of the Bengaluru Metro rail project intends to
connect RV Road metro station to Bommasandra near the interstate border. Extension
of the line into Tamil Nadu up to Hosur was cleared by the Karnataka chief
minister Basavaraj Bommai recently.
Tamil Nadu government should
conduct a project report for extending the Metro line to Hosur from the border
point a distance of 20 kilometers
Dr Chellakumar said he had raised the issue of extending metro service
up to Hosur in Lok Sabha and the same was taken up by Bengaluru Metro Rail
corporation in its proposal to the Union
ministry of Housing and Urban development, the nodal ministry for Metro rail
projects in the country. This is the dream project for thousands of people in
Hosur, who regularly commute to work to Bengaluru. If the project is
implemented, it will benefit people of both States socially and economically.
The MP said he will soon meet Chief Minister MK
Stalin to discuss the proposal. |
