Crude imports formed 60 per cent of Cochin port’s turn over

The state owned Bharat Petroleum Corporation accounts for nearly sixty per cent of the cargo handled by the Cochin port. The Port handled nearly twenty million tons of crude to be processed by the BPCL refinery situated near the port

BPCL is the largest shipper for the Cochin port where huge investments were made to facilitate transshipment traffic. But transshipment is yet to pick up from the port  though the facility was commissioned nearly 12 years ago.

BPCL has received the award for excellence in business performance in cargo handling at Cochin port for the year 2021-22

The Cochin Refinery team led by BPCL chief general manager (Manufacturing) M Sankar received the award from Cochin Port Authority chairperson M Beena last week

Commissioner of Customs P K Mohammed Yousaf, Naval Officer-in-Charge Commodore Rajesh Kumar Yadav and Cochin Port Deputy Conservator Capt Joseph Alappat were present on the occasion.
