Nearly 400 comprehensive GIS-based maps already prepared under PM Gati Shakti: Goyal

The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Mr PiyushGoyal, has said that nearly 400 comprehensive GIS-based maps have been already prepared under PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan.

The revolutionary initiative would facilitate the building of a secure and collaborative approach towards infrastructure planning.

He emphasised that the revolutionary initiative would help solve the problem of haphazard development of infrastructure in the country and facilitate the building of a secure, sustainable, scalable and collaborative approach towards infrastructure planning.

 He was delivering the keynote address at the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Ministerial Session ‘Seminar on Collaborative regulations: Co-creation and sharing of infrastructure (in sync with PM Gati Shakti), and international regulators’ roundtable on ‘Collaborative regulations using RegTech and Technology platforms’.

Expressing concern over infrastructure projects that have been languishing for decades due to lack of sensible, data-based integrated planning, Mr Goyal pointed out that PM Gati Shakti was a simple, elementary, logical and rational tool to address these issues. He also noted that every part of government had contributed towards the realisation of PM Gati Shakti, making it a fine example of the whole of government approach.

 The seminar discussed inter-governmental collaborative approach on co-creation and sharing of infrastructure across multiple sectors, multilateral approach to creation and feasibility of infrastructure sharing in telecom, and power sector possibilities and challenges, among other topics of relevance, said a release.
