The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet gives nod to construction of 594-km Ganga Expressway between Meerut and Allahabad

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet gave its nod to the construction of the Rs 36,230-crore, 594-km Ganga Expressway,  the longest road link in the country. This is the fourth expressway to come up in the state in the last few years.

The state Cabinet gave its nod to the Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Quotation (RFQ) of four packages of the project which will pave the way for the construction of the six-lane expressway.

The UP CM directed all relevant departments, including UP Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA), to work in 'mission mode to execute the project between Meerut and Prayagraj covering the districts of Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj along the river Ganga.

Ganga Expressway was approved on November 26, 2020.

The state Cabinet also approved the construction of a big airport in Lalitpur. The approval came given the construction of Bulk Drug Park in Lalitpur and the Defense Corridor in Bundelkhand. Small aircraft will be landed here in the first phase. It will be developed as an international airport in the future. The cost of the airport project is Rs 86.65 crore. -The cost of the total 91.77 hectares of land required for the airport is Rs 7,786 crore.

For its construction, 12.79 hectares of land is also being taken from the Ministry of Defence. Later, the land will be given to the Ministry of Defence from the land of the Gram Samaj.
