Special Economic Zone (KASEZ), largest in terms of area, has shown a 16 per
cent export growth in September 2020 over the Exports in the same month of the
last financial year.
Merchandise Exports from KASEZ have shown a modest growth of 10 per cent in
September over the same month last year, Services exports have shown a
phenomenal four-fold increase comparatively compared to the previous year.
Development Commissioner, KASEZ Dr Amiya Chandra, ITS, was quoted during an
interaction with the media at KASEZ a few days ago.
Ten other SEZs in Gujarat shown strong
signs of recovery
SEZs in Gujarat, of the 20 functional SEZs, have also shown strong signs of
recovery and appear to have put the Covid-phase behind them.. The Surat and
Dahej SEZs have shown an 89.13 per cent and 56.03 per cent increase in exports
respectively in September over the same month in the last financial year.
The TCS SEZ
in Gandhinagar, the Jubilant SEZ in Bharuch and the Sterling SEZ near Vadodara
have also shown growth rates exceeding 50 per cent during the month. Besides,
the Zydus SEZ in Ahmedabad, which is pharma-based, has shown a growth rate of
37.56 per cent in September.
SEZs like GIDC Apparel Park SEZ and that of Calica Constructions & Impex in
Ahmadabad have also shown healthy growth.
