670 fishermen who
remain stranded in Iran for the past three months will be repatriated home when
they reach Tuticorin port in the next few days. Be it Maldives or Iran People
from Tamil Nadu are the last ones to be repatriated during the current round of
Samudra Setu organized by the external affairs ministry
The state chief
minister Edapady K Palaniswamy had written several letters to the central
government emphasizing the need to
repatriate the fishermen on a priority basis.
The naval vessel INS Jalashwa to repatriate the last batch of fishermen
from Tamil Nadu
The naval vessel INS
Jalashwa has reached Iranian port of Bandar Abbas on June 24th to repatriate
the last batch of fishermen from Tamil Nadu held up there for over three
months. The vessel will bring back the 670 Indians stranded in Iran.
Embarkation of the Indian nationals had commenced on June 25th.
The ship is expected
to reach Tuticorin port at India's land's end in the next few days.
