Australia sends back illegal SL immigrants who travelled by sea

Twenty Sri Lankans travelling illegally, in an Australia bound vessel had been sent back, the Australian High Commission in Colombo announced on May 30th according to Sri Lankan media reports.

The following is the text of a statement issued by the AHC: "Australia remains committed to protecting its borders, stamping out people smuggling, and preventing people from risking their lives at sea.

Australian High Commissioner, to Sri Lanka David Holly, warned anyone considering illegal migration not to be fooled by the lies and false advertising of people smugglers.

No change in tough border protection policies of Australia

As the return of these people shows, there has been no change to Australia’s tough border protection policies following Australia’s recent Federal Election," the statement quoted High Commissioner Holly as having said.

Australia has zero tolerance for people smuggling, and people who attempt to come to Australia illegally by boat have zero chance of success,"he said.
